Alvor

Alvor is an ancient coastal village that is a very popular holiday location; the narrow streets ensure development is kept to a minimum. Most of the streets now boast bars with live music and different types of restaurants, fish and shellfish feature prominently on the menus with fish stews and grilled sardines being firm favourites.

There are still traces of the older fishing village. Alvor retains much of the charm of a picturesque fishing village, with streets of white houses and colourful boats making it one of the most picturesque places on the Algarve.

Alvor offers all the modern amenities that visitors have come to expect while retaining a traditional Portuguese atmosphere. It is a wonderful place to go to enjoy a relaxing seaside holiday in the knowledge that the sea and sand can be enjoyed in daylong sunshine. Alvor boasts one of the best beaches in Europe and averages only 17 days of rainfall a year … hot dry summers and pleasant winters making it a year-round holiday destination.

Oasis Parque - Alvor

Oasis Parque is a newly developed, purpose built community of privately owned villas and apartments. With superb leisure facilities exclusively for people staying within Oasis Parque, the Leisure Club facilities include a huge outdoor swimming pool, children’s pools, an indoor pool (heated in winter), Jacuzzi, tennis courts, children’s play area and a poolside café and restaurant. In addition there are large sun terrace areas and plenty of sun loungers, but also parasols and shady spots too!

Situated on the western outskirts of Portimao at Chao das Donas which is just a few minutes drive from the gorgeous beaches of Alvor and Praia da Rocha.

Travel

The local airport is Faro and there are many airlines which land here – EasyJet, Jet2, BMI Baby, Ryanair, Globespan and other European airlines as well as the holiday firms such as First Choice and Thomas Cook. We advise the hire of a car to get to and from the airport and also for local use However there is a bus which runs from the airport which make drop offs at the Oasis Parque development.

Olhos de Agua

Olhos d'Agua is a quaint fishing village 5km to the east of Albufeira, and about the same distance to Vilamoura. Backed by fragrant pine forests, Olhos d'Agua is Albufeira's greener neighbour. With its winds ideal for windsurfing, the long Praia da Falesia beach never gets overcrowded and you can also visit the 'Eye of the Water', a freshwater spring exposed among the rocks at low tide. The main street runs down to the beach where fishermen launch their boats each day, and the catch finds its way to the excellent local restaurants and quite a few bars. It's a quaint little place, typically Portuguese fishing village.

Nearby is the area known as Praia da Falesia, with its wonderful long sandy beach which stretches all the way to Vilamoura!

Located 6 kilometres from Albuferia, Olhos D'Agua is a small and typical fishing village, and from the 18th century on was used as a lookout point for the defence of the fort at Albufeira.

Olhos d'Agua (Eyes of Water) takes its name from the numerous fresh-water springs that bubble up both on the beach and off-shore underwater.

Albufeira

First and foremost, Albufeira is famed for its beaches and for the countless shades and tones of its rocks and cliffs. This is a place where people live to the rhythm of the great holiday destinations, sunbathing during the day and at sunset flocking to enjoy the restaurants, bars and discos that enliven the night-time hours. Just a few miles inland and everything changes. The green of the countryside is dotted with almond, fig, orange and pine trees and decorated chimneys stand out against the ochre of tiled roofs.

Albufeira Marina

Marina Albufeira is situated in a tranquil setting with direct access to all amenities and yet the vibrancy of the old town is only a few minutes walk away. The architecture of Tom's Taveira, the inspired urban planning of Sidinio Pardal and the gracious landscaping designed by Broadway Malyan, come together as extremely colourful and daring creation is designed to be seen and create architectural discussion. On the marina there are bars and restaurants to suit all tastes, traditional Portuguese, Italian, fish, sushi etc. Take a boat Daily Cruise, Cave Exploration, Diving, Parasailing, Jet Skis, B.B.Q and Sunset Cruises, Big Game and Reel Fishing all booked from the marina. The marina also offers a children's play area with crazy golf, hire bikes for all ages, or hire a Segway or scooter.

The complex is serviced by the Giro bus link leaving every 30 minutes, or why not catch the tourist train which runs every 30 minutes from the marina to the Old Town.10mins by car to zoo marine, water parks and Algarve shopping mall with English film cinema and bowling. Excellent beaches such as Fisherman's Beach, Praia da Oura, Praia de Santa Eulalia, Praia de Sao Rafael are all close by.

Beaches

Albufeira boasts beaches where the sand is fine and the sea is a turquoise blue sheltered by cliffs which are canvasses painted with a whimsical palette of natural hues. It is for its beaches that Albufeira is internationally renowned, because all of them are different... and they are all equally enchanting.

Gale

An expanse of sand that stretches for miles, between cliffs. It is equipped with a wide variety of tourist facilities. In the direction of Albufeira there are two small beaches that are quiet and little visited.

Castelo

A cove that is protected by the rock formations. Great natural beauty.

Coelha

A small beach between colourful cliffs.
